On Friday, class 4 looked at the life of Jo Cox as part of the Great get together. We linked it to the recent terrorist attacks and challenged our own views of what a terrorist looked like. We looked closely at how Jo’s vision to be a united and diverse community can be applied to our own lives. As a class, we discussed the things that we share in common with our peers. We then looked at potential ways in which we could bring our school community together to celebrate diversity in our community and in the wider area.
The children said, “Jo showed Christian values because she wanted everyone to have the same opportunities no matter where they come from!” and “Jo understood that life wasn’t fair for everyone and just because we are fortunate we shouldn’t turn our back on others.”
