Caterpillar Class 4

The man from Meccano club arranged for us to go to the Caterpillar factory to look at the factory. We saw how engineering had made it possible to build the massive trucks. The day begun with us designing our own Caterpillar truck. We had to think carefully about the design and answered different questions about what fuel the truck would run on and what its main function. The team with the best design was steel wheels and they won lots of Caterpillar goodies including a cap and a t-shirt. After that we went to the factory where we saw the trucks being built. Some of the trucks costing £500,000. It was a great morning and it inspired the class to take more interest in future projects.
