World Book Day Class 3

We started our exciting World Book Day with an assembly in the school hall. We talked about World Book Day and what we were going to do. We were all really excited as we showed off our fantastic outfits to the rest of the school during our class parade. We even chanted for the teachers to parade around the school in their outfits. During the day, we spent time thinking and picking a design ready for when we needed to create our own national book token. These will be entered into the competition.

In the afternoon, we discussed our favourite books and authors. Leading us into watching a short clip of different authors and illustrators showing off their talent. We watched the author and illustrator of ‘What the Ladybird said’ draw a fantastic picture, in two minutes, of a unicorn with various animals on its back. Some of the class volunteered to go down to nursery and reception to read and discuss an appropriate book.

We finished the day reading some of our class book, ‘Girls can’t play football’.

A child said, “Illustrators are those who draw in books and authors are those who write the stories.” Another child, “Stephen King is an author, my dad reads his books.” Another said, “I feel really peaceful and calm when reading.”
