Today is Remembrance Day!

We began this morning by taking part in a Remembrance Day workshop. We started by looking at a picture of a local soldier: Thomas Coates. We asked lots of questions and found out lots of facts. We then looked at a very old photograph of Thomas and his family, discussing how we thought they would have felt at the time the photograph was taken. After, we discussed how we remember those lost in the war and we even created our very own memorial card to remember Thomas Coates.

After our workshop, we gathered as a whole school in the hall for a Remembrance Day service. The Year 5 and 6 children read some lovely poems, said some prayers and spoke about Remembrance Day. We finished off by having 1 minute silence to remember those who fought for their country and lost their lives.
