Black History Month

For black history month, we made links with our topic for this term, World War One. One very important person we have been learning about is Walter Tull. We have spent time researching Walter Tull as part of our history lessons and had discussions about how we should treat people who are different to us. He was the first black British army officer who lead many successful missions, however, he was treated differently because of the colour of his skin. Before he enlisted to serve his country, Walter Tull played football but his teammates didn’t like playing with him because he was black so he wasn’t allowed to play anymore.
