On Tuesday 6th March we celebrated World Book Day. We all came to school dressed as our favourite book character.
We started the day by having an assembly to discuss what would happen in the day. We got to parade around the hall and show of our costumes to the rest of the school. It was so much fun!
Then we went back to class and read the story ‘Aliens Love Underpants’. One child said ‘I love this book!’ We read the story and talked about our favourite parts ‘I liked when they have pants on their head,’ said a child. Then we went to draw and colour our very own alien ‘Mine will be called Slimey,’ a child said. We loved talking about our aliens and showing them to our friends in the class.
Next we discussed what an author was. We looked carefully at the front cover of the book and picked out the things we could see. One child said ‘I can see some writing at the bottom’, we discussed that this was the name of the author. We talked about what they thought the author might look like and were all very surprised when we saw a photograph of the author! We learnt that the author writes the story and has a very important job!
The best part of the day was when Class 3 came down to read with us. We sat around the classroom and all listened carefully to the story. We asked lots of questions and talked about the characters in the book.
Finally, we designed a book token for a competition and choose the best dressed in the class! We all had a fantastic day and really enjoyed dressing up!
