The award is given to schools that have shown great significant use of the context of space in STEM subjects, have worked with other organisations, shared resources and used space to enrich the curriculum.
Since starting the journey to gain a quality mark in space education, the children from Nursery to Year 6 have fully emerged themselves in learning all about space. The children have attended Space Camp Sleepovers, visits from Bishop Auckland Astronomical Society, whole school activities including a Science Fayre, a visit from a mobile Planetarium, astronaut assembly and workshop. We even got the opportunity to meet Michael Foale and ask his some questions about his experiences as an astronaut!
We have been extremely lucky to have been awarded the Bronze Space Education Quality Award. Our next target is to continue to embed Space Education and gain the Silver Space Education Quality Award
Well done St Michael’s.
