On Tuesday 29th January, we were lucky as a school to have Adam Bushnell visit to do a writing workshop based around the topic of ‘Space’. This kicked off with a whole school assembly with performances/involvement from the children from each class. This helped to spark the children’s curiosity and helped to fully engage and immerse the children in an impactful day of writing about all things not of this world.
In class 3, our job was to look at the mechanical suit, made from old electronic appliances to allow our astronaut to visit class 4’s planet, over-coming any terrain or obstacles they might meet in this unchartered territory, that the aliens call home. We first looked at famous suits of superheroes and space travellers, creating a whole class space suit. Adam injected inspiration and creativity into the children’s own ideas, allowing them to flourish and create a plethora of inventive suits, which would allow our explorers to visit this whole new world.
A child said ‘I cannot wait for our ideas for a suit to help to bring this whole story to life’.
Another said ‘I hope one day, NASA take our ideas and help future explorers and endeavors to other planets in the universe’.
