Today, we had a very special visitor. Paul Cookson is a poet and we were lucky enough to have him in school today. At the start of the day, Paul showed us some of his poetry in a whole class assembly. It was so funny! We were so excited for Paul to come in our class to work with us on a class poem.
When Paul came in our class we decided to make our poem about Superheroes to fit in with our current topic. We had lots of fun discussing a wide range of vocabulary to use in our poem and decided to make our teachers the Superheroes in the poem.
At the end of the day, we went back into the hall with the whole school to perform our poem and listen to poetry from the other classes.
We all had a fantastic day and can’t wait for Paul to visit again!
Here is our poem we created as a class with Paul.
Superhero Teacher
Superhero teacher,
Superhero creature,
They are here to meet ya,
Super hero teacher.
Teleport from room to room,
Class to assembly,
They are invisible,
Invisible in school,
Creeping round the school.
Superhero teacher,
Superhero creature,
They are here to meet ya,
Super hero teacher.
Super sight, laser eyes,
See through doors, see through walls,
Super hearing, radar ears,
Hear through door, hear through the walls.
Superhero teacher,
Superhero creature,
They are here to meet ya,
Super hero teacher.
Super strength,
Fast as lightening,
Super strength,
Very frightening,
Very very frightening.
Superhero teacher,
Superhero creature,
They are here to meet ya,
Super hero teacher.
See them fly across the sky,
Super web swing to school,
Flowing hair long and high,
When they fly across the sky,
When they fly across the sky.
Superhero teacher,
Superhero creature,
They are here to meet ya,
Super hero teacher.
